What happens to all the ideas we don't use — the ideas we loved in a brainstorm but didn't present to a client? Or the ideas we came up with over late night tater tots with our friends, but never had time to do anything with?

If I had to guess, I think the ideas do just fine. They probably stroll off, relieved to have avoided a full time job, and go find likeminded ideas to hang out with.

Eventually a few of them start a society, where they sit around in leather chairs drinking sherry out of nice glassware.

Sometimes they agree to get lunch with me, for old times' sake. Here are a few of my favorite members of the Society of Alternative Ideas.
